I was so rushed this morning and there was one more thing I wanted to say.

I was talking to a cousin this morning about something that she recently witnessed, and she said, “It was just like that scene in E.T., where…….”.

And I had to tell her I never saw E.T.

Last week, there was some news event that a commentator compared to a scene in Godfather II.

I have never seen any Godfather movie. Nor have I ever seen a Star Wars movie. And I could go on and on.

The same is true with TV shows. I have never seen the Sopranos or Breaking Bad or The Simpsons or Seinfeld or …..

And music. Can I name one Taylor Swift song, or a song  Bruce Springsteen, or Fleetwood Mac, or Elton John, or Dolly Parton? No.

So maybe I am deluding myself when I think that I understand this country. Maybe I am just a cultural outsider who does not understand it at all. Maybe the United States that I know so well is just a place that does not really exist. And the U.S. that exists is a place I don’t know at all.

That’s it. Just wanted to get that out.
