I guess the Congressional race in Virginia’s 2nd District will be close. The incumbent is a one term Republican Jennifer Kiggans. The Democrat is former Congresswoman Elaine Luria.

On a short drive this morning, I turned on C-Span radio and heard part of a press conference being given in Virginia Beach by Kiggans and Majority Leader Mike Johnson. Kiggans started off by saying that this race was crucial in order to prevent the Democrats from controlling Congress and putting into action their Marxist and Communist programs.

I chuckled when she introduced Johnson and he said how important it was to elect her because she had such great ability to work in a bipartisan manner. I thought someone got their wires crossed.

But, no, I guess not. Because Mike Johnson, the Majority Leader of the United States Congress, now (as he says) on a 30 day, 34 stop, 18 state trip supporting Republican candidates, spent the next ten minutes or so asserting that the Democratic party “is in the middle of a civil war”, “does not know who its leaders are”, and “is controlled by Marxists and Communists”. And these Marxists and Communists, now that they control the Democratic (he of course says Democrat) party, if they get to control Congress will put into place a Communist agenda which will take away our civil rights and, what might even be worse, abolish private property. Are you a small business man? Well, you won’t be under the Democrats, because they want to take over your business.

Now, few things can shock me today regarding the action of Republicans in the federal government. But I must say this one did. If I hadn’t been driving in my new and still very clean car, I might have given into my first instincts and and thrown up onto the passenger seat.

I can’t imagine anyone dumb enough to fall for this, but I know that between 30% and 50% of the country will.
