It turns out that the new car is fine. In my 2019 Prius, the default was to show the mileage of your current trip, and to get the total car mileage, you needed to push the odometer button 2 or 3 times. In the 2026 Prius, the full odometer is the default, and when you hit the odometer button once, you get the number of miles before your next maintenance appointment, which is 9700 miles away.
